A VOTE FOR DON MOSIER IS A VOTE FOR DEL MAR

On Nov. 4, 2008, Del Mar voters will cast their ballots for three City Council seats. Don Mosier, a longtime resident of Del Mar, has a proven record of public service and leadership and deserves your consideration and vote.

A PROVEN LEADER & A DEDICATED PUBLIC SERVANT

For the last 5 years, I have worked hard to be an effective leader and a consensus-builder on Del Mar’s Design Review Board (DRB). In collaboration with fellow DRB members and Del Mar residents, I have made it a high priority to implement development solutions that meet resident’s needs while preserving Del Mar’s unique residential character.

A BOTTOM-LINE APPROACH TO FISCAL RESPONSIBILITY

Del Mar is a small city with limited revenue sources and needs to be strategic and creative in identifying and maintaining sources of income. I am highly budget-conscious and will work to ensure that your tax dollars are well-spent and that Del Mar remains fiscally responsible both in the short and long term. I endorse the Finnell plan (proposed by former councilmember Jerry Finnell) that reserves capital for future needs in each fiscal year.

REVITALIZING OUR DOWNTOWN WHILE PRESERVING OUR QUALITY OF LIFE

I support responsible and environmentally sustainable revitalization and development in Del Mar’s commercial corridor. I believe that positive growth that both benefits residents and merchants can be achieved while preserving our unique village character and quality of life. I pledge to join my fellow city council members in working cooperatively with residents and merchants to build a more vital downtown that enhances our tax base and better serves residents and visitors.

ENGAGING DEL MAR RESIDENTS TO DEVELOP COMMUNITY SOLUTIONS

There is no doubt in my mind that Del Mar is one of the best places to live and work in the world. But, with tremendous increases in growth and traffic occurring around us, Del Mar needs to be ever vigilant in preserving its quality of life and managing external impacts. I am committed to listening to and engaging Del Mar residents to ensure that neighborhood and city-wide traffic circulation strategies are implemented to protect our residential streets from excessive cut-through traffic.

I also believe that fully engaging the Del Mar Fair Board (22nd District Agricultural Association) to the north is essential. A constructive working relationship will be needed to ensure that future growth is effectively mitigated and that Del Mar’s environmental concerns are fully taken into consideration.
